A sly dig at the talented Deepika Padukone’s role in Padmaavat. If shade-throwing were an Olympic sport, Kangana would already have a gold medal. She would be rehearsing her acceptance speech for the same. But that doesn’t seem necessary she knows what to say and how to say really well.
The Royal Roast Begins
What exactly conspired? Kangana, who is never one to mince words, reportedly questioned Deepika’s portrayal of Rani Padmavati in Padmaavat, suggesting that it wasn’t all that regal. “Where’s the courage? The fiery soul?” she supposedly enquired, sipping her tea while probably rehearsing her next jab at someone.
Now, this takes us back to when Kangana herself portrayed characters with an exaggerated spirit, like in Manikarnika and Tanu Weds Manu. Her strong belief in portraying real, complex, and fierce women was clear—and she’s not shy about holding others to the same high standards. So, we can see why she might feel Deepika’s version of Padmavati didn’t quite match the intensity that her own roles bring to the table. But it seems like she might be having a bit of spite because she did not get to act queen after Manikarnika.
It’s not the first time these two contradictory queens have crossed swords, either. Remember the time when Kangana said she doesn’t need PR teams because her talent is her publicity?
